Novell has issued a shipping date of 20 September for version 5.0 is of its NetWare operating system (OS).
The release brings Novell head to head with Windows NT. The company is hoping to capitalise on its directory services software and the fact that the next release of NT is still a year away.
It is also the first version of the OS to support IP, rather than Novell's proprietary IPX protocol.
