In brief: Acorn takes refuge in digital TV

Acorn Group is turning its back on desktop products, in favour of jumping on the digital TV set-top box bandwagon.

The company has announced the cancellation of its Risc PC 2 project and said it will cut its workforce by 75 employees. In a statement the company said it would focus on becoming a digital TV and thin-client components company.

The decision to make such a drastic strategic move was prompted by a steep drop in the company's share price over the last six months and a profit warning last April.
