Microsoft is taking on the embedded system market with the launch its first version of embedded Windows NT next month.
The software giant says new system will have added features, such as remote management and the ability to start up from flash memory. The operating system will be shipped with a tool based on Component Integrator from VenturCom.
Vendors have previously been forced to customise the operating system for use with embedded systems - such as telecom routers and remote access servers - by writing their own code.
