Sun Microsystems will today announce a series of new initiatives to keep itself at the centre of ecommerce.

Chief executive Scott McNealy is expected to announce measures including discounted hardware bundles for service providers and the 'Suntone' certification scheme which rewards companies that keep their servers up and running.

According to US wires, the announcement - to be made in New York later today - includes more software from the Netscape partnership, including email server products and an extension of Sun's online store.
