Novell CEO, Eric Schmidt has denied claims he is leaving the software manufacturer.
Schmidt insisted he is "committed to Novell", and dismissed rumours that he is in the running to replace Lew Platt as head of Hewlett-Packard (HP).
Sam Ginn, CEO of Airtouch Communications and a HP director, said HP will announce a new CEO "within two or three months."
US recruitment firm, Christian & Timbers is conducting the search.
