Sun Microsystems is planning to release software that allows Linux applications to run on its Solaris operating system.
Called Lxrun, the software was originally designed for UnixWare and will be demonstrated at Linux Expo in Raleigh, North Carolina, next week.
The demonstration will show Linux applications running unchanged on Solaris including Applix, GIMP, Gnome, Netscape Communicator, Netscape Navigator, Quake II and WordPerfect.
