IBM has upgraded its S/390 operating system, OS/390, as part of its ongoing e-business campaign.
The latest release - OS/390 Version 2 Release 8 - features enhancements in security, connectivity and systems management which IBM claims are key for e-transaction processing.
These enhancements include the dynamic management of virtual private network keys through the Internet Key Exchange (IKE), improved management and administration of digital certificates used by both server applications and end users, higher availability of TCP/IP in an S/390 parallel sysplex clustering environment, and the ability to print from ERP and Internet-related applications.
