A group of Linux distributors has joined the project to port the open source operating system to Intel's IA-64 architecture.
Caldera, Red Hat, SuSE and TurboLinux will work together on the project known as Trillian with the goal of having IA-64 Linux ready for distribution on Intel's Itanium processor in the second half of next year.
The Trillian team's work will be made available to the open source community early next year.
