Intel pumps £10m into Orchestream

By Joey Gardiner

Published: 21 December 1999 09:57 GMT

Network management start-up, Orchestream, has received a substantial investment from Intel in exchange for a minority stake in the company.

The investment - thought to be in the region of £10m - reportedly gives Intel five per cent of the three year old business.

Orchestream produces software that improves network performance by prioritising data, allowing more essential information to be transmitted with fewer delays in low bandwidth environments.

Charles Muirhead, founder and president of Orchestream, said Intel's investment vindicates Orchestream's products. He said: "Intel wants the Internet to become a multimedia communications platform to drive its chip sales, and Orchestream's software allows this."
