Japanese electronics giant Sony is planning to double its output of PCs in the next ten months to 2.8 million.
According to a report in the Financial Times, the manufacturer plans to increase shipments of its popular Vaio range, as well as launching 25 new products for the series.
The move is part of the company's Internet strategy, which also includes the PlayStation game console, mobile phones and digital set-top boxes.
Sony admitted the increase in shipments might be hampered by problems in its manufacturing supply chain, particularly by the shortage of flash memory chips and liquid display screens.
