Open source OS and services company Red Hat has acquired embedded Linux technology developer WireSpeed Communications for an undisclosed fee.
Wirespeed develops telecommunications and network components for software shipped in PCs and handheld devices.
In a statement, Matthew Szulik, CEO of Red Hat, said the acquisition will help the company meet the demand for embedded technology, particularly for PDAs.
The deal should be completed by the end of July 2000.
