Intel is getting behind peer-to-peer technology and believes it will have a strong impact on the future of computing.
Peer-to-peer technology is similar to the controversial Napster system that lets music fans share and download files over the internet. It allows any computers connected to the network to share files and applications without the use of servers.
The technology has been at the centre of legal battles in the US because of copyright violation between Napster and the US music industry. Intel claims it is working on security software and digital management technology to limit the infringement of copyright.
