Market figures from analyst house Dataquest show IBM commanding a 13.5 per cent market share with Toshiba's falling 1.5 per cent to 12.5 per cent. Toshiba slipped a further place as Dell also overtook the company to claim second spot with 13 per cent market share.

The study also found overall notebook sales are continuing to grow strongly, with a 21 per cent rise year on year, compared to a mere 1.6 per cent rise in PC sales over the same period.
