Microsoft Windows XP, the long awaited latest version of its operating system, will hit the shelves on Thursday 25 October.

After weeks of speculation, the OS will be made available in two editions - Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional Edition.
Microsoft has billed the launch as the biggest Windows marketing event in the company's history - doubling the investment spent on the release of Windows 95.
The company said the marketing push was designed to stimulate "tremendous demand for the experiences that Windows XP enables".
In a statement, the company said Windows XP would be the highest quality Microsoft operating system ever, which could explain why it has taken so long to develop.
Microsoft has already come under fire from competitors for tying its latest version of Media Player into the operating system.
Project to Promote Competition and Innovation in the Digital Age, also known as Procomp said this practice flouts antitrust laws just as surely as the company did by tying the Internet Explorer browser into Windows.
