Being Linus Torvalds: silicon.com launches portal into the mind of open source guru

You may have heard that he's branded Mac OS X "crap", but why did he say it? And what does he think of Bill Gates, Silicon Valley software politicking, and the future of open source?

These are just some of the questions answered by Linus Torvalds, in a series of exclusive interviews with Pia Hekkila, fellow Finn and silicon.com senior reporter (http://www.silicon.com/goto-Linus-st ).

She spent a day with the normally publicity-shy Finn at the Santa Clara offices of his current employer, chip designer Transmeta.

Over the course of Linus Week, silicon.com will publish an Agenda Setter video interview (http://www.silicon.com/a44362 ) as well as video and text personality pieces, explaining what makes the man tick.

We will also reveal Torvalds' answers to a series of reader questions about the future of Linux, Windows and life outside high-tech.

Many controversial comments have been leaked from Torvalds' upcoming autobiography, Just For Fun. Not only will silicon.com be serialising this book (http://www.silicon.com/a44353 ), released on 15 May, but we are also offering our readers copies at the discounted price of £16.20 (http://www.silicon.com/linusweek/book.htm ).
