Neilsen/NetRatings announced yesterday that more than 42 million workers in the US are regularly surfing the internet as part of their working day.
Corporate information sites topped the hit list, accounting for 49 per cent of work-time traffic, with financial sites coming a close second (42 per cent) and online travel third (31 per cent).
In a statement, Sean Kaldor, VP of analytical services at Net Ratings, said: "The office environment is depending more on the internet as a tool for research, business-to-business transactions and day-to-day office management."
