Apple's iMac may be in urgent need of a facelift, but this week's Macworld Expo is more likely to feature faster processors in current computers (albeit in different colours) rather than the much-anticipated redesigned machines.
While remaining an innovative consumer machine - and still the computer of choice as a prop in TV programmes, films and West End media companies' reception areas - iMac sales have flagged and the design is beginning to look dated.
Apple is expected to launch a redesigned iMac sometime this year, featuring a flat-panel display, although the high cost of components may well mean that the present iMac will remain the entry level machine.
The company's iBook and PowerBook portables have both been given overhauls this year, and sales have rocketed.
The likelihood, however, is that Apple CEO Steve Jobs will roll-out a speed-bumped version of the iMac with more RAM to deal with the 128MB minimum that the memory-hungry OSX demands, and new coloured enclosures.
So whether it appears on day one of the Expo or later this year, a redesigned iMac is certainly on the cards.
Either way, for a chance to win a silicon.com goody bag (don't get too excited - if you're lucky you'll get a mousemat and a pen) answer the following question or enter a reader comment below giving us your feedback on the iMac theme:
