Falling mobile and PC sales hit Dixons

Electrical goods retailer Dixons has blamed falling demand for mobile phones for weak sales figures.

The company has recorded a four per cent increase in turnover, with products such as video games and widescreen televisions leading the charge, but sales of mobile phones, which have previously accounted for rapid growth have fallen.

The group has also been hit by falling sales in the PC sector - a one-time boom market which has now slowed considerably.

According to a report in the Guardian Sir Stanley Kalms, chairman of the Dixons group, said the company's Link stores, which specialise in mobile phones, and its chain of PC world stores now face an "uncertain" future.
