Norwegian browser company Opera has made a deal with French Canal+ interactive TV company.

The deal sees Canal+ integrating the Opera browser into its Mediahighway platform. The browser will be built as a standard part of Mediahighway's Java-based middleware, which resides inside Canal+ digital set-top boxes.

The agreement allows digital TV subscribers to surf the internet with their digital set-top boxes using the customisable version of the Opera browser.

Canal+ said around 115 million set top boxes worldwide are already equipped with Mediahighway platform.

Opera has recently struck a deal with IBM and its NetVista as well as Symbian, the mobile appliance consortium.
