Dell executives in hot water over patent infringement

Email archives opened...

A US federal court has ordered Dell to release the email archives of 14 senior executives following complaints that the company has been uncooperative in supplying evidence in a patent infringement case.

The lawsuit was filed in November 2000 by Tulip Computers which argued that a Dell motherboard infringes on one of its patented designs.

The email evidence will be examined by a database consultant hired by Tulip. However it will exclude email records from Michael Dell unless Tulip finds stronger evidence of his involvement in the design.
