MPs are set to get a technology overhaul with new PCs, laptops, and printers as part of an IT update for the Houses of Parliament.
The refresh will consist of around 3,300 computers -- 1,300 for the 659 MPs in the House of Commons alone.
The contract has yet to be awarded but among the specifications for the MPs' new hardware are "business standard" PCs and laptops with current "standard-image software build", DVD re-writer and 17" TFT flat screen.
Perhaps mindful of the potential for security leaks resulting from sensitive data on current equipment, the winning supplier of the five-year contract will be responsible for "recover, cleansing and secure disposal" of MPs' current kit.
A spokeswoman for the House of Commons declined to comment on who the existing supplier of computer hardware for MPs is.
