I've been using a fingerprint scanner on my Acer Laptop for 4 years now - as a system administrator I have to memorise hundreds of passwords - this is so much easier - and more secure - why has this taken so long to catch on?

Acer madly swapped to using a smart-card on their new machines (try logging on when you've left it at home by mistake!)

Downside is - you can't lend your PC to someone else without first setting them up (not so handy when I needed a colleague in UK to access my lappy while I was away on holiday).

Also, I'm paranoid someone will nick my lappy then come back to cut my finger off :)

Hint: For power users, define a different login for each finger (admin on one, normal user on another, guest on another etc!)
