I think you are clutching at straws. This was my 6th WWDC keynote and I was seated 10 rows from the front and the crowd *was* wowed by the Mac Pro and all of the other demos. We all came out on a high.
The ridiculously exagerated expectations of all sorts of new CONSUMER goodies like iPod phones, iTunes Movie stores, large movie iPods etc etc did not have a detrimental affect on all the DEVELOPERS around me and Steve was as warmly appreciated as always.
In fact the humour of the event (in particular the digs at Microsoft) were particularly well-received.
You obviously had to be there.
It is also evident that Apple is on a major roll with lots of goodies in the wings and the solid beginnings of major marketshare gains against the "evil nemesis" from Redmond. I can't possibly see Steve giving it all up in the near term.
As far as his health is concerned, several Apple employees with me stated that Steve had just come back from a short holiday in the sun and just looked trim and relaxed. With his vegan diet he just doesn't have the puppy fat of your typical American.
