My charity, Digital Links International
exports refurbished secondhand computers to schools and communities in developing countries, which extends their useful life by 3-4 years. However we are also setting up the process of collecting non-working equipment and returning it to Europe for proper recycling and reclamation of precious metals etc. We have recently applied for the movement of the first 2 shipments from East Africa.
By closing the loop on recycling, we can extend the useful life of computers without creating an environmental headache for developing countries.
If people would like more information on how this can be achieved, they are welcome to contact me.
