Compaq and BT build emergency SANs in London
By John Oates
Published: Thursday 27 January 2000
Compaq and BT are teaming up to provide fibre channel disaster-tolerant SAN (storage area networks) for companies based in London.
The first two sites will be in Docklands and Holborn, with more to follow across the UK if the pilot proves successful.
The scheme will initially target Windows NT and Open VMS data centres with Unix following soon.
Shaun McCaughan, business continuity solutions manager at Compaq, said in a statement: "The data storage market is exploding in the year 2000, and our intent will be to provide the widest rage of disaster-tolerant SAN services in the marketplace."
