VA Linux revenues rise 500 per cent in fourth quarter

VA Linux Systems has reported a revenue rise of more than 500 per cent for the fourth quarter, ending 28 July 2000, following stronger than expected results.
The stock market responded with shares in the company increasing by $6.88, or 18 per cent, to close at $44.
Revenues stood at $50.7m, up from $7.8m for the corresponding quarter the previous year, a rise of 547 per cent.
Despite the growth in revenue, VA's net loss was $4.1m compared with $7.8m in the previous year.
Annual revenues totalled $120.3m, up 579 per cent from the $17.7m recorded in 1999.
