Intergraph points finger at Intel
Fighting a losing battle?

IT services firm Intergraph has filed another set of lawsuits against Intel, alleging the chip giant infringed a number of its copyrights with the release of Intel's Itanium chip.

The filing is the latest in a long-running dispute between the two firms in which Intergraph has so far failed to prove any wrongdoing by Intel.

In this latest development Intergraph claims Intel's new processor infringes the copyright of Intergraph's Parallel Instruction Computing (PIC) technology, which it says is at the heart of Itanium.

Itanium is Intel's first push into the 64bit arena, through which it eventually hopes to produce greater computing power on the desktop PC.

Still unresolved is Intergraph's lawsuit over technology Intel used in its Pentium processors, which Intergraph says also infringes its copyrights.
