Apple forced to mark up iMac
Rising cost of monitors and memory to blame...

Apple has raised the price of its flat-screen iMac by $100 citing the rising costs of
flat-panel monitors and memory.

In a statement, Apple senior vice president of marketing Phil Schiller said: "Rapidly increasing component costs is an industry-wide issue right now."

"Since the new iMac's launch in January, memory costs have tripled and flat-panel costs have increased 25 per cent, with little relief in sight.

The ground-entry iMac now costs $1,399, with the intermediate and top-end models costing $1,599 and $1,899.

The company said it will honour existing orders from resellers and orders placed on its website.
