Yet another hole in Internet Explorer exposed

Danish security firm Pivx Solutions has found what it claims is a new hole in Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer.

It said the flaw could allow malicious hackers to execute arbitrary code and elevate the privileges of a user's PC so they could, for example, appear to be a network administrator and gain wide access to a company's data.

It rated the hole as a high risk.

Pivx has provided a temporary work-around for the problem, and said it chose to release the information now, before Microsoft has released an official patch, because it believes the hole is publicly known. The firm said it notified Microsoft on 25 June.
