Sales of peripherals for personal digital assistant (PDA) devices are now worth about E1m per month across France, Germany and the UK.
The latest figures from Context show that for the first three months of 2003 end users mostly bought cases to cover their devices followed by cables for PDA-to-PC connectivity and additional styluses.
Context senior partner Jeremy Davies said in a statement: "It's a good business. Just on these top three items a handheld PC vendor could easily expect accessory revenues to top 35 per cent of the cost of the device."
For carry cases, Palm- and HP iPaq-branded products took 39.5 and 12.2 per cent of unit sales respectively. Other notable vendors were Covertec and Dixons, with its cheap, own bran cases, dubbed 'Italian Job' by Context.
