Europe's roads could become a safer place thanks to a virtual reality simulator for scooters.
The Anglo-Italian project is the first to be awarded approval under the new Joint European Venture (JEV) programme aimed at small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).
Called Ecotecna, the project has already been awarded 50 per cent of its potential 100,000 euro EC funding.
It's hoped the simulator will help to improve driving standards throughout the continent. However, the project is shrouded in mystery, as the two companies involved are reluctant to reveal any details for fear of jeopardising its success.
An EC spokesman said: "It is now in the feasibility stage. The project has four to five months to show it can work. If it does, the companies get the other 50 per cent of the financial package. If not, they have to repay the initial money."
