IBM and Intel have released a range of servers and workstations based on the 450MHz Pentium II (PII) processor.
The IBM Netfinity 5500 and 3000 servers and Intel's Intellistation workstations are aimed at the mid-range market as the Xeon processor heads for the high end.
Xeon boasts larger and faster L2 cache memory than the PII, with a considerable price differential as a result. Xeon pricing sits at over $1,000, while the 450MHz PII costs around $560.
