Intel has announced it expects to make a third quarter profit at a time when many semiconductor groups are experiencing severe losses. The chip giant expects revenue to be up by 10 per cent on second quarter revenue of $5.9bn.
Meanwhile, National Semiconductor has announced losses of $104.8m, or 63 cents per share, for the quarter ending 30 Aug 1998. However, this is an improvement on analysts' predictions of a 65 cents per share loss.
