In a move to reposition itself away from its failing PC processor business Acorn is opening a new digital TV processor research facility in Bristol.
The company has poached seven members of staff from ST Microelectronics to create its core research team, which will be headed by Simon Knowles. The team will focus on creating hardware and software for the computer/TV convergence marketplace.
In September, Acorn announced it would stop developing PC systems and focus on the TV/multimedia marketplace.
