Toshiba, Siemens and IBM have joined forces to develop a DRAM memory chip which they claim is 40 per cent smaller than current technology.
Using 0.175 micron technology, Toshiba plans to begin mass production of the chip in late 1999. The size of the chip will enable the firm to reduce its cost and make potential manufacturing savings of up to 20 per cent.
