London Transport (LT) has awarded a £25m contract for desktop services to UK outsourcing firm ITNet.
The company beat out incumbent contractor, ICL, to take over support services for LT's 8,000 PCs and 250 servers. It will also manage LAN services and provide a helpdesk.
The contract runs until 2005, but since LT may be wholly or partially privatised long before then, the contract will enable ITNet to continue the services with future partnerships or owners.
ITNet will begin managing the desktops at LT's Canary Wharf offices this September. The company is scheduled to be running services at all LT offices by the end of the year.
