Chip manufacturers at the Supercomm '99 trade show in Atlanta this week have shown their support for digital subscriber line (DSL) technology by announcing the development of a number of chips designed especially for DSL modems.
Analog Devices and Texas Instruments will introduce chips for DSL modems later this year, while AMD and Virata say they are working on designs for asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) modem chip sets.
The announcements are expected to increase the momentum and availability of high-speed Internet access worldwide.
