Intel has released its fastest Pentium III and Celeron processors yet.
The 600MHz Pentium III (PIII) will be used in workstations and desktop PCs, while the 500MHz Celeron chip targets the budget PC market.
The processors have already been incorporated in machines from PC vendors including Compaq, IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
Intel now offers the PIII at speeds of 600MHz, 550MHz, 500MHz and 450MHz, while the Celeron is offered at 500MHz, 466MHz, 433MHz, 400MHz, 366MHz and 333MHz.
The 600MHz PIII will cost $669 in 1,000-unit quantities, with the 500MHz Celeron costing $167.
