Xerox triumphs over HP in chips hearing

By John Oates

Published: 13 August 1999 16:04 GMT

Hewlett-Packard (HP) has failed in its attempt to stop Xerox using HP TrueRes chips in its colour printers.

The case was brought in June in Boise, Idaho. HP claimed breach of contract and stopped shipping more chips to Xerox, threatening the production of the DocuPrint NC60 colour printer.

Judge Thomas Marten ordered HP to hand over the chips as agreed. A suit over damages and termination of the agreement is still to be heard.
