Tektronix to offer free colour laser printers

By Dominic Maher

Published: 8 September 1999 18:02 BST

Following on from the free PC model, Tektronix has come up with a program to give away colour laser printers.

The printer manufacturer is asking potential customers to agree to a minimum monthly printing volume plus an agreement to only purchase colour ink from Tektronix.

Available through www.FreeColorPrinters.com, applicants at this stage must be US businesses with a limit of one printer per customer site.

The give-away product, a Phaser 840 colour printer valued at
$2,499, comes with a three year on-site service and support package, costing $4,600. Tektronix hopes this will offset the cost of the colour ink.
