Lexmark International and Eastman Kodak are forging a long-term relationship to co-develop appliances making it cheaper and easier to print digital pictures. The announcement came at Lexmark's fourth annual 2020 Vision On Print conference, held in Boston, Mass., US.

Bernard Masson, president, consumer printer division at Lexmark explained that the aim is to provide PC-free printers.

The move will maintain the company's position as the number one provider in what Lexmark describes as the appliance printing market.

Last month, the two companies teamed up to offer the Kodak Personal Picture Maker that allows users to take images from digital cameras and print or store the images without the need for a PC.
