Another skirmish to add to Intel's name

Alabama judges have ruled Intel did not violate US anti-trust regulations in its long-running dispute with Intergraph. However, it is not clear whether the saga is now over.

The workstation manufacturer has been alleging it owns the patents on some of the technology used by Intel in its microprocessors. When Intel cut off the supply of vital information to Intergraph, the vendor cried 'wolf'.

Then when the subsequent injunction forcing Intel to feed information to Intergraph was lifted in November, Intel filed for a summary judgement. The Federal Judge in Alabama has now decreed Intel's actions have not violated US antitrust laws, because Intergraph is not an Intel competitor.

Intergraph now has to decide whether it will continue with its claim for damages in tort.
