HP is to use Geode processors from National Semiconductor in its printers.
The Geode-based devices are designed to enhance Internet and remote printing. HP's JetDirect 4000 printers will be the first to incorporate the technology.
Geode features on-chip graphics, memory control and a PCI interface, which should allow faster and better quality printing. The appliance allows browser-based management suitable for remote installing and management of print queues.
