From today, viewers can see 3D images illustrating the positioning and path of the space station, which has been circling Earth for the last fifteen years. ParallelGraphics, the company behind the End of Mir project, claims it will use data from NASA alongside its Cortona viewer to provide real-time images as Mir meets its end.

Connell Gallagher, president of ParallelGraphics, claims the company's technology will take the user as close to mission control as it is possible to get.

Mir is expected to complete its final journey at about 08:00(GMT) next Thursday.
