
US based chipmaker Transmeta has signed a deal with Microsoft that will see the company's much-hyped Crusoe chip used to power Microsoft's Tablet PC.

The Crusoe 600MHZ TM5600 processor claims to be faster and lower in power consumption than its competitors. Transmeta has said Crusoe is particularly suitable for laptop devices because it allows lighter CPUs to be built.
Microsoft's Tablet PC will run the next generation of Windows OS - Windows XP. The Tablet uses a pen as a primary input device instead of a mouse or a keyboard.
