Text messaging gets poetic: Shakespeare turns in grave

The Guardian newspaper today launched a poetry competition in which the winner stands to receive a cash prize of £1,000.

However, before putting pen to paper it is worth noting that poems can only be 160 characters long and must be submitted by SMS text message via your mobile phone.

Here's a sample of the competition from the Guardian site:

Txt me Friday if you like,
Ask me later, I just might,
May be busy, may be free,
See you soon tho' hopefully.

The number to send your own poems to is 07753 828610. Entries must be received by 13 April.
