Autonomy tunes in to interactive TV

Autonomy is to set up a new division to service the interactive TV market.

The company will be known as Dremedia, and will be officially unveiled next month, according to the Independent on Sunday.

It will build on Autonomy's reputation as an intelligent search engine company by releasing software to help digital TV producers automate certain tasks.

Autonomy contends that in today's multi-channel, 24 hour a day broadcast environment, TV companies will have to speed up their production cycles.

The new company will be headed up by Matthew Karas, project director of the BBC's interactive TV division and one of the founders of BBC News Online.
