EC releases league table of innovation and knowledge economy...

The EC's Innovation Scoreboard ranks the European Union's 15 member states in terms of the dynamic development of their knowledge economy.
The league table analyses statistical data on 17 indicators in four areas: human resources; knowledge creation; transmission and application of new knowledge and innovation finance, output and markets.
According to the report, which is due to be released 1 October, Europe's top ten most innovative nations are:
1. Sweden
2. Finland
3. UK
4. Denmark
5. The Netherlands
6. Ireland
7. Germany
8. France
9. Austria
10. Belgium
The scoreboard also ranks countries on their rate of innovation and the speed of the development of high-tech economies. Scoring nations on this basis produces a very different list: Ranking the fastest first, the EU's quickest developing knowledge economies are:
1. Greece
2. Spain
3. Luxembourg
4. Ireland
5. Finland
6. Denmark
7. Belgium
8. Sweden
9. Italy
10. Austria
