Japanese watchmaker Citizen has unveiled a wristwatch prototype with IBM's Linux operating system inside.
The Linux watch which has IBM's Watchpad mini-computer, weighs 43 grams and includes a 32-bit microprocessor backed by 8MB of DRAM and 16MB of flash. The watch will also have Bluetooth wireless connectivity, speaker, microphone and fingerprint-sensor functions.
The watch's Bluetooth function can be used to remotely control other devices, such as a PCs.
The fingerprint sensor function could be used to identify the watch's owner. The watch runs on standard lithium ion watch batteries or AA batteries.
