Intel is set to wind down its Consumer Products Division because it doesn't fit with the company's long-term drive for growth.
The business unit focuses on the digital photography, audio and toy sectors, but the company will cease to make and develop all products and will gradually sell off existing stocks.
According to reports on Cnet, an Intel spokesman said the business did not meet the companies targets for long-term growth potential.
Victims that were in development will include Intel's Web Tablet Internet product which demoed in prototype form last January, and the Dot.Station internet appliance.
However, the spokesman insisted that the decision will not affect its home networking products which are made by a separate division.
